Our youngest son Patrick had been struggling with life for about a year and a half. His interpretation was that his body was unhealthy; he had a laundry list of symptoms from spinal aches and pains to feelings of unreality and a lack of energy and motivation. Visits to more doctors than I care to remember left us with no diagnosis; my husband and I watched Patrick sink into deep depression. He had always been a sensitive person, but because he felt no one could help him, he became suicidal and unable to do much more than lie in bed with the covers over his head.
We forced Patrick to see a psychiatrist who immediately prescribed antidepressants and told us that he suffered from a serious anxiety disorder closely associated with body dysmorphic disorder and that he had OCD tendencies. She was not optimistic that he would improve without intensive cognitive behavioral therapy. She said that it took him years to develop this condition and it would be most likely years before he would be back to normal. She also said that he was suffering from a mind-body disconnect. I was leafing through my old issues of Science of Mind magazine and stumbled upon an article about the mind-body connection (Dec. 2004 issue). A healer named Iana Lahi was quoted in the article and I googled her name to see if I could find out anything more about her. I liked what I read on her website, and my son and I both called her. We were skeptical about working over the phone but were desperate for help and Iana convinced us that she could be effective during phone sessions. She immediately grasped the central issues of Patrick's problems and struck a chord with me when she acknowledged that my husband and I were walking the line between heaven and hell with our son. After about three weeks of working with Iana, we began to see glimmers of the old Patrick. A light began to shine in his eyes and he became more like his old self. I am happy to say that our son is now once more fully engaged in his life. Not only do we have our loving son back but, perhaps more importantly, Iana helped to give Patrick back to Patrick. We were able to schedule an intensive weekend so that we could do some sessions in person. We flew Iana out to the East Coast and she worked with Patrick for two days. We brought the healer into our home and it was incredible. Iana helped me to take back the energy that I had invested in Patrick while he was so low. I can only describe our time with Iana as magical and sacred. The psychiatrist who treats our son has not had to increase his med dosage since his breakthrough with Iana. She says that his turnaround is absolutely remarkable and will be able to begin to lower his meds in the immediate future. My husband and many of our family had been praying for a healing for Patrick - we were all so worried about him. I have no doubt that God sent Iana to us to facilitate Patrick's healing- we will be eternally grateful and know that Iana will continue to help our son navigate through life.
